The Tourist Information Center regularly organizes guided tours of local businesses that offer visitors the chance to discover local professions, products, and expertise. The Marina Plage campground was the focus of the last tour organized before summer, in close collaboration with the municipality\u2019s tourism department. Val\u00e9rie Da Silva, the tourism director, had invited several colleagues from the region, city council members, and representatives from the metropolitan area, in addition to residents of Vitrolles who had signed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group of visitors was welcomed by Nicolas F\u00e9raud, one of the campground\u2019s three directors, who provided commentary during the tour along with Florian Marsella, who is in charge of communications. \u201cIt was my grandparents, Albert and Madeleine, who opened the campground in 1972. Ten years later, Guylhem, my father, took over and gradually transformed it by adding bungalows.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To date, 385 sites are equipped with mobile homes. In the recreation area, you\u2019ll find all the animals that make our resort so unique: llamas, horses, goats, alpacas,<\/strong> and especially the camels, with which we\u2019ve developed our guided rides. The animals\u2019 well-being is always our top priority. <\/strong>"<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along the paths lined with 60 palm trees, the tour continues from the weight room to the beach, passing by the front desk, the animal areas, and including a visit to a bungalow and the restaurant. The average occupancy rate during the off-season is between 60 and 80 percent, and 25 employees keep the campground running, including staff at the front desk, in technical and administrative services, and animal caretakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A tree-lined, family-friendly place <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jean Marc, a resident of Vitrolles since 1974, had never been there before, even though he\u2019d been a member of the nearby sailing club for 16 years: \u201cI\u2019ve seen it grow over the years, and this is a good opportunity to visit it.\u201d As someone who\u2019s used to camping, I\u2019m not at all disappointed\u2014quite the opposite. It\u2019s well-maintained and has plenty of trees providing shade in the recreational areas. I\u2019m amazed by all the activities on offer<\/strong>.\u201d Val\u00e9rie Parayre, director of the economic tourism department for the Metropolis, is pleasantly surprised to find such high-quality facilities in the area: \u201cFamily<\/strong> guests, who seem to be the primary target audience, must appreciate the presence of all these animals\u2014especially the children. It\u2019s a beautiful facility open year-round, ideally located on the shore of the \u00c9tang de Berre, and well worth a visit. <\/strong>" In the summer, a program of free activities runs from morning to night. Don\u2019t miss it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
